The Cessna Citation Ascend is the current-production Model 560XL midsize jet, combining the family's established cabin cross-section with a flat-floor option, quieter interior, modern Garmin flight deck and updated Pratt & Whitney Canada engines. It is now certified and in service rather than a future concept, but its early fleet means charter access is inherently tail-, operator- and market-specific and should never be implied without a confirmed direct-carrier proposal.
Why the Cessna Citation Ascend remains a charter consideration
Textron Aviation announced the Citation Ascend in 2023 as the next 560XL-series generation, secured FAA type certification in November 2025 and completed the first retail delivery on December 30, 2025, marking entry into service. That verified boundary supports a production period beginning in 2025; it does not imply broad charter-fleet penetration, and the earlier original XLS, XLS+, XLS Gen2 and Ascend remain separate configurations despite their shared type lineage.
Variant note. Citation Ascend is FAA certified and in service from late 2025; it is not the discontinued XLS Gen2 and its early-production status does not establish widespread charter availability.

Inside the Cessna Citation Ascend
Textron presents a nine-passenger standard arrangement within a cabin approximately 18 feet 6 inches long and 5 feet 6 inches wide, with a 5-foot flat-floor height or up to 5 feet 8 inches in the optional dropped aisle and a manufacturer maximum of twelve passenger positions by configuration. Redesigned ergonomic seating, approximately 15-percent larger windows, additional acoustic treatment, a forward refreshment center, wireless cabin management, high-speed connectivity options, 19 USB charging ports and wireless charging support rest or productivity, while 90.2 cubic feet of published baggage capacity improves luggage flexibility. Textron's current Ascend specification publishes those dimensions but not a separate passenger-cabin-volume figure, so this profile does not borrow a volume from an earlier 560XL variant.

Cessna Citation Ascend range, cruise speed and flight deck
Textron publishes maximum cruise of 441 KTAS and a four-passenger range of 1,940 nautical miles using high-speed cruise, NBAA IFR reserves and standard-condition assumptions. Two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D turbofans with full-authority digital engine control and autothrottles, a Garmin G5000 flight deck and the 560XL family's low-mounted, zero-sweep wing define the current aircraft; the licensed carrier must still calculate takeoff, landing, payload, winds, reserves and any fuel stop from the actual tail's approved data.
