The original Gulfstream V is an ultra-long-range heavy jet developed for intercontinental missions, pairing a large three-zone cabin with approximately 6,500 nautical miles of model-level range. It is distinct from the later GV-SP marketed as the G550, and its current charter value depends strongly on the individual aircraft's completion, avionics modernization and maintenance status.
Why the Gulfstream V remains a charter consideration
Gulfstream launched the GV program in the early 1990s and began deliveries in 1997 after extending the G-IV concept with a longer fuselage and Rolls-Royce BR710 power. The platform became Gulfstream's first purpose-built ultra-long-range business jet and led directly to the GV-SP/G550, but regulators preserve the original GV and later GV-SP as separate models within the same type family.
Variant note. This profile covers the original Gulfstream V, not the later GV-SP/G550. The cabin uses both excluding-baggage and total-interior length conventions so it can be compared without mixing measurement boundaries.

Inside the Gulfstream V
The reference interior is approximately 43 feet 11 inches long excluding baggage and about 50 feet 1 inch overall, with a 7-foot-4-inch width, 6-foot-2-inch height and approximately 1,669 cubic feet of cabin volume. A roughly 226-cubic-foot internal baggage compartment supports longer travel, while common thirteen- to fourteen-passenger cabins offer club seating, conference/dining space and an aft lounge or divan plus a full galley and lavatory; natural light, office equipment, outlets, Wi-Fi, entertainment and sleeping positions require inspection of the quoted tail.
- Seat configuration
- Typically 13–14 executive passengers; approved layouts can carry up to 19
- Cabin volume
- Approximately 1,669 cu ft
- Cabin dimensions
- Approximately 43 ft 11 in excluding baggage; about 50 ft 1 in total interior long × Approximately 7 ft 4 in wide × Approximately 6 ft 2 in high
- Baggage capacity
- Approximately 226 cu ft
Large internal aft compartment generally accessible in flight; shelving, loading limits and wardrobe allocation vary by completion.

Gulfstream V range, cruise speed and flight deck
The Gulfstream V is commonly referenced at up to approximately 6,500 nautical miles, with long-range cruise around Mach 0.80 and high-speed cruise near Mach 0.85, equivalent to about 459 to 488 KTAS under ISA tropopause conditions. Twin Rolls-Royce BR710A1-10 turbofans, Honeywell SPZ-8500-series avionics and a swept low wing define the model; installed aerodynamic equipment requires aircraft-specific confirmation, while approved FMS, display and communications upgrades vary and the direct carrier controls trip planning.
- Range reference
- Up to approximately 6,500 nm
- Original-GV model reference under defined payload, cruise and reserve assumptions; actual route capability varies.
- Cruise speed reference
- Approximately 459–488 KTAS at Mach 0.80–0.85
- Mach converted using about 574 knots for the speed of sound at ISA tropopause conditions; actual TAS varies with altitude and temperature.
- Engines and efficiency context
- Two Rolls-Royce BR710A1-10 turbofans
- Installed engine standard, thrust setting, altitude, payload and cruise profile determine fuel burn; the model-level engine identity is not a trip fuel-consumption guarantee.
- Avionics
- Honeywell SPZ-8500-series integrated flight deck in original configurations; approved navigation, display and communications upgrades vary by tail
- Aerodynamic design
- Swept low wing; installed aerodynamic equipment requires aircraft-specific confirmation

Is the Gulfstream V right for your charter?
A GV can suit a long international itinerary for a group that needs generous baggage and separate spaces for work, meals and rest, especially when an upgraded older airframe compares favorably with newer alternatives. Jet Partners can obtain an identified aircraft's current records, cabin photos, floor plan and equipment list from the direct carrier, which then confirms payload, range, airport suitability, crew, schedule, price, terms and operational control.

Confirm these details in writing
- Aircraft, cabin layout, passenger count and baggage fit.
- Named direct air carrier and available trip-specific safety information.
- Runway, payload, weather, routing and possible technical-stop limits.
- Total price, inclusions, conditional charges and cancellation terms.
The properly licensed direct air carrier identified in the proposal retains operational control and makes the final flight-operational decisions.
