The Legacy 500 is a flat-floor, fly-by-wire super-midsize jet considered for charter when travelers want a long stand-up cabin, transcontinental reach and modern cockpit architecture. Its direct successor is the Praetor 600, but the Legacy remains a distinct aircraft with lower published range and tail-specific cabin upgrades.
Why the Legacy 500 remains a charter consideration
Embraer certified and placed the Legacy 500 into service in 2014 after developing a clean-sheet midsize family around full fly-by-wire controls and Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics. The longer 500 complemented the Legacy 450 until Embraer evolved both platforms into the Praetor 600 and 500, respectively, around the end of the decade.
Variant note. Praetor 600 fuel capacity, winglets, performance and cabin evolution are not applied to the Legacy 500. Starlink and other connectivity solutions are install- and subscription-specific aftermarket options.

Inside the Legacy 500
The standard cabin uses eight passenger seats and selected approved configurations reach 12 through different chair, divan and auxiliary arrangements. Embraer publishes an approximately 826-cubic-foot cabin measuring 27 feet 6 inches long, 6 feet 10 inches wide and 6 feet high, with 155 cubic feet of total baggage capacity, including about 45 cubic feet internal. A flat floor, large windows, berthable club seats, worktables, a forward galley and enclosed aft lavatory support natural light, productivity and rest, while Wi-Fi, power and entertainment vary by tail.

Legacy 500 range, cruise speed and flight deck
The OEM product brochure cites 3,125 nautical miles with four passengers and NBAA reserves, together with 466 KTAS maximum cruise. Two Honeywell HTF7500E turbofans, Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics, full fly-by-wire controls and a swept low wing define the platform. The direct carrier must confirm runway, payload, winds, routing and reserves for the actual mission.
