A private jet trip to Aspen needs an airport plan as well as an itinerary. Check Aspen/Pitkin County Airport's operating window and nighttime requirements before accepting proposed flight times. For travel during the announced 2027 runway closure, evaluate another airport and the onward journey together. The identified direct air carrier operates the flight and retains operational control.
Airport sources below were checked October 13, 2026. Rules and construction schedules can change. This is a passenger planning guide, not pilot instructions or a substitute for the carrier's current airport, procedure and NOTAM checks. The Aspen airport reference and airport directory provide context; they do not approve a trip.
Confirm the operating window, not just the flight time
The airport's curfew page labels its hours MST: attended from 0700–2300 MST, closed from 2300–0700 MST, with tower hours 0700–2000 MST and an uncontrolled period 2000–2300 MST. It also states no departures after 2230 MST. An open airport and an operating control tower are different conditions.
Keep the published MST label in the trip brief. Ask the carrier to confirm how it applies to the itinerary's actual local date and time, including any daylight-time interpretation. Do not silently convert the page to another time-zone label or assume the airport's closing time is the departure cutoff.
Give the charter contact your destination commitment, latest useful arrival and return requirements. Ask which proposed flight times the carrier has evaluated against the current restrictions, and what happens if a revised schedule falls outside the accepted window. A desired arrival time is a request, not a confirmed operating plan.
Ask which nighttime requirements apply
The curfew page and the airport's approach and departure page describe additional general-aviation requirements from 30 minutes after sunset to 2300 MST. For VFR operations, the published requirements include instrument-flight equipment, an instrument-rated pilot and at least one ASE takeoff or landing by the pilot in command in the preceding 12 months. The pages state that IFR approach and departure procedures require air traffic control clearance.
Those are carrier-confirmation questions, not steps for passengers to apply. Ask the selected carrier to confirm the requirements relevant to the offered aircraft, crew, operating authority and proposed times. The curfew page also distinguishes aircraft noise stages by time of day; ask the carrier to confirm the applicable aircraft restriction rather than inferring it from a model name.
This guide does not reproduce headings, bank angles, approach minimums or departure techniques. The carrier must use current operational information. Do not treat a passenger itinerary, an old chart or an airport web page as permission to operate.
Check the 2027 closure against every leg
The airport's construction updates and runway reconstruction FAQs give the same planned closure: Sunday, April 4, 2027, at 11:00 p.m. through Friday, November 19, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. The construction page says the airport will close to all commercial and general-aviation aircraft operations during that period. The FAQ also states that ASE will be closed to helicopter traffic during the construction closure.
Confirm the current schedule and the local-time interpretation of those closure boundaries with the carrier and airport information used for the trip. The closure text reviewed here does not attach the curfew page's MST label to these dates. Do not add that label by assumption. Check the outbound and return legs separately, especially when the itinerary crosses a closure boundary.
The FAQ distinguishes runway reopening from completion of the new terminal. A planned runway reopening is not a statement that every modernization project or facility will be complete. Recheck the airport's published updates before accepting a revised plan.
Compare EGE and RIL with the ground journey
The reconstruction FAQ identifies Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport among regional alternatives and separately identifies Rifle Garfield County Airport for general aviation. That is a starting point for evaluation, not confirmation of a particular flight, handling arrangement or onward transfer.
Use Eagle County Regional Airport's official pilots and navigation page and the official Rifle airport site alongside the carrier's current checks. The Eagle page directs readers to current facilities and surface-condition information. Neither a website reference nor this guide establishes that the offered aircraft and itinerary have been accepted.
For each option, ask the carrier and ground provider to confirm the airport, proposed flight times, handling and pickup location, destination access, baggage arrangements and return journey. Do not use an assumed drive time to promise arrival at a resort or meeting. The existing EGE and RIL reference pages can help organize the questions.
Keep one written Aspen trip brief
Record the decisions together before accepting a proposal:
- Destination commitment: Where you need to arrive and the latest useful arrival
- ASE operating window: Proposed flight times, the published MST label and the carrier's confirmed interpretation
- Nighttime review: The carrier's confirmation of applicable aircraft, crew and operating requirements
- Closure check: Travel dates, the current airport notice and when it was checked
- Alternate airport: Which option is being evaluated and which arrangements are confirmed
- Ground journey: Pickup point, provider, destination access and unresolved items
- Return leg: Whether a changed airport or date alters the return arrangements
- Revision approval: Who can accept a changed airport, aircraft, schedule or written terms
Keep unanswered questions marked as pending. Use the winter disruption decision sheet for broader change planning and the quote-comparison checklist to check that written proposals describe the same intended journey.
Recheck before accepting a changed plan
If the itinerary changes, ask which earlier confirmations still apply. A revised date, airport, aircraft or ground journey needs a current review; an earlier approval should not be copied into the new brief without confirmation. Obtain revised written terms from the charter contact and operational confirmation from the identified direct air carrier.
Request an Aspen trip proposal with your travel dates, passenger and baggage needs, destination commitment and flexibility. The carrier confirms the operating plan for the proposed trip.
