The Digital Age leaves no industry behind, not even relatively exclusive ones like business aviation. In 2019, it’s professional suicide for a company to ignore data gathering opportunities. This year will see a rise in private aviation companies utilizing intelligence software, and in turn, providing customers with a more modern experience.

What technology will play a role in business aviation this year?

Given that business aviation only claims around 30,000 end-clients, it is difficult for the industry to gather the same sort of large scale data that commercial airlines have readily available. However, more interactive analytics services are stepping out onto the scene, providing a unique opportunity to businesses in the industry.

  • Tableau — Essentially, tableau allows for data collection and visualization. Once data has been collected, it is easy to consolidate into a digestible visual form that provides insight to businesses.
  • Microsoft Power BI — This service functions much in the same way as Tableau. Microsoft Power BI also creates data visualizations to help a company assess its current state, and can import data sets from multiple sources.

These services will give better insight into things like buying trends, flight patterns, and fuel usage. They can also present simpler opportunities for assessing safety.

How does this impact the customer experience?

It’s impossible to fix something without knowing that it’s broken in the first place. Analytics services will point out any glaring issues to a company that may have otherwise flown under the radar.

Utilizing this type of service can also allow customers who have chosen to travel by private jet charter to complete an assessment of their experience, which would be automatically fed into the software to produce quantifiable statistics about customer satisfaction.

Analytics services can also be used to create things like flight maps and price comparison charts that will simplify the private jet charter selection process for customers. Providing verifiable data comforts customers by signaling to them that they have chosen to work with a reputable company.

While we at Jet Partners certainly respect and value digital data, we did not need modern trends to tell us how important it is to operate with fairness and transparency.

Jet Partners has long upheld a policy of providing customers with safety reports, should they request them. Third party auditors rate individual operators, as do crew on each flight, so that we can assess whether or not they meet our standards.

Additionally, Jet Partners will gladly offer price comparison data, as there is nothing to compare at all. We will match or beat the price of any other private jet charter company.

The importance of learning more about the business in which we operate cannot be overstated. We are excited to embrace evolving intelligence trends within the private aviation industry, even more so because we have never shied away from relevant data collection.

As trends veer into digital intelligence requiring deeper analytics, Jet Partners is happy to metamorphose while offering the same level of quality, safe, and cost effective service.

Business Intelligence to Change Private Aviation in 2019

This year, the Belmont Stakes will host a few of the most exciting minutes in Sports Entertainment. While the event has never been as popular as the Kentucky Derby, every so often there is an opportunity for one championship horse to compete in the third and final leg of the Triple Crown. The coveted title is an honor considered to be the most prestigious trophies in the nation. This year that opportunity has been earned by California Chrome.

Belmont Stakes Favorite California Chrome

California Chrome is owned by Perry Martin of Yuba City, California and Steve Coburn of Topaz Lake, Nevada. The two originally purchased Chrome’s dam, Love the Chase in 2008, and an observer remarked that only a “dumb ass” would buy her, given the horse’s modest race record. The Coburns and Martins decided to name their racing operation DAP Racing, which stands for “Dumb Ass Partners”. Steve Coburn was initially looking for a tax write off, and his wife Carolyn encouraged him to buy into a racing syndicate rather than purchasing a small airplane.

In certain situations purchasing an aircraft can be beneficial for tax purposes.  Companies that earn enough revenue and travel over a certain amount, can benefit from aircraft ownership, but it usually only makes sense for larger entities.  For individuals and corporations who don’t do enough flying, the associated costs of ownership often spend more than they get to write off.  While buying a race horse is not always a lucrative endeavor, there is certainly a better chance of turning a profit, especially if you come out a winner in the events with higher purses.

Triple Crown - California Chrome

If California Chrome wins the Triple Crown, it will be the first time since 1978, that a horse has achieved such a tremendous feat. This year over 100,000 attendees are expected to attend, hoping and anticipating a victory for California Chrome. Many will fly private and attend the newly renovated champagne room, where New York Yankee Bernie Williams will be performing on his classical guitar as well as musicians such as LL Cool J. Jet Partners is a proud provider for all private charters to and from this remarkable, exciting, and potentially historical event.

Perry Martin and Steve Coburn

Today, the partners are considered far from “Dumb Asses” with earnings over $3.5 million this year for California Chrome; a not so shabby return on an $8,000 investment in Love the Chase. They no longer have to worry about buying a small airplane. Using on demand charter providers such as Jet Partners gives them the opportunity to charter private aircraft all over the world and only pay for the time they fly. They have the luxury of traveling in comfort and leisure on some of the most beautiful aircraft in the world whenever and wherever they desire. Best of all, they don’t have to worry about the associated costs ownership such as paying a crew, renting hangar space, maintaining airworthiness and all the other fun bills you receive as an aircraft owner.

Call or email Jet Partners now to book a flight or learn more about private jet charters.  We are on call 24/7 and can have you in there are within a few hours notice.

California Chrome: The Race Horse That Was Almost An Airplane

This past week on a special CNBC Delivering Alpha, Billionaire Activist Carl Icahn spoke about several topics such as Dell, Netflix, Herbal Life and Bill Ackman. During the segment, Carl Icahn was making a point that many fund managers are not in touch with what is going on in the streets. He made a comment that Bill Ackman probably owns a private jet. “He lives all over the world. He’s got a jet plane, a boat, I don’t know his personal life but I’d imagine. He’s not in touch with reality.” We decided to research this claim and see if Mr. Icahn was correct in his assumption and indeed he was.

According to Jetnet, an information and reporting service for the business aviation industry, Mr. Ackman owns a Gulfstream G550. The Cost of an aircraft such as this can range anywhere from $32-$49 million USD and carries annual fixed costs of ownership just shy of $5 million USD. We were able to locate pictures of Bill Ackman’s Private Jet which is nothing short of amazing.

According to current Jetnet records Mr. Icahn himself does not currently own a private jet. Jetnet reports that he did own a fraction of a Falcon 2000, similar to the pictures below, but it was sold back to NetJets in 2004.

That is not to say Mr. Icahn doesn’t make use of private aircraft. Many business jet charters are done on a trip by trip basis through services such as Jet Partners that offer on demand private jet charter. In aviation, private jets and commercial aircraft have similar operating costs. Both are subject to fuel, maintenance, crew salaries, insurance, and respective airport or hangar fees. The primary divergence lies in the costs and how they are distributed.

In commercial aviation, the burden of operating expenses is shared among the 150 or more passengers onboard, making it a more cost-efficient choice for the individual traveler. Each passenger’s ticket price contributes to covering the total operational costs, which include the large-scale operations of fueling, maintaining, and servicing the aircraft, compensating the crew, and ensuring the plane meets rigorous safety standards.

In contrast, the private aviation sector caters to a significantly smaller number of passengers, often just one or a handful. This exclusivity, coupled with the luxury, convenience, and privacy of private flying, is unparalleled. However, these benefits come at a premium due to the absence of cost-sharing mechanisms inherent in commercial flights, leading to a much higher per-person expense.

Ultimately, while the components of operating costs remain consistent across commercial and private aircraft—fuel, maintenance, crew salaries, insurance, and airport or hangar fees—the key distinction in the financial impact on passengers comes from the scale of operations and the distribution of costs. In commercial aviation, the expense is distributed among hundreds, making it more accessible to the average individual. In private aviation, the costs are borne by an individual or a select few, reflecting a trade-off between the exclusivity and convenience of private air travel and its associated costs. This trade-off is an important factor for individuals and corporations to consider when choosing their mode of air travel.

Comparing the Operating Costs of Private Jets and Commercial Aircraft: Understanding the Financial Dynamics

Recently, Instagram superstar, professional poker player, actor and playboy Dan Bilzerian announced his purchase of a 1988 Gulfstream IV private jet.

“I told my Dad I bought this G4, he said ‘congratulations son, by your age I had 3’” was Dan’s caption on the picture he uploaded, showing his family is no stranger to Gulfstream Jets.

Although the aircraft is not brand new, Gulfstream IV heavy jets are known for holding their value and as you can see by the pictures below, this one has obviously been refurbished over the years.

Dan Bilzerian was a topic of our blog “#The CharterKings of Instagram” but now has stepped it up from Charter Customer to Aircraft Owner.

Below you can see pictures of his new private jet courtesy of JetNet:

Dan Bilzerian has Good Taste in Jets

Gulfsream IV jets are know as reliable, safe and spacious aircraft.  With a range of 4,200 miles + and seating for up to 20 passenger (depending on the configuration), the G IV will be the perfect aircraft for Mr. Bilzerian to travel with his entourage, mostly consisting of beautiful women who will undoubtedly be more than comfortable on an aircraft know for having spacious and luxurious accommodations.

It’s safe to say that his is one of the more interesting accounts on Instagram. Now with the acquisition of this Gulfstream, we expect even more private jet related photos to populate his news feed.  If the nature of his past postings are any indication of what’s to come, one can only imagine what kind of parties will be happening at 40,000 feet.

As an aircraft owner, Mr. Bilzerian will also have the option of hiring a flight attendant of his choice.  For the sake of his Instagram followers, which now number close to 5 million, we hope Dan will continue to upload more entertaining content.  This should be an easier feat as anyone who owns a Gulfstream or similar private jet knows, the world becomes a much smaller place when you have the ability to travel any place on the globe with little to no notice.

Fly Like You Own a Jet

For those who don’t wish or need to own a jet, you can still travel as though you do.  Just as Dan Bilzerian had previously done, chartering a private jet offers all the same convenience without the associated costs or commitment of owning an aircraft.  Jet Partners offers on demand charters as well as Jet Cards in 25 hour increments.

On 6/16/2015 Donald Trump announced that he will be running for President in 2016.  The 69-year-old Billionaire has been no stranger to the world of politics.  He has often voiced his opinion on everything from abortion and gun control to calling President Obama’s citizenship into question.  At one point even offering to donate $5 Million to the charity of his choice if Obama would produce his birth certificate.

Although he has frequently expressed a desire to run for Governor and President as far back as 1988, this is the first time he has officially announced himself for candidacy.

The Republican from New York can certainly afford to fund his own campaign and claims he will not be paying for it with donations. “I don’t need anybody’s money. It’s nice, I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m rich.” The question remains, which of his private jets will he use on the campaign trail?

Donald Trump owns a 1997 Citation X super mid-size jet and a 1991 Boeing 757-200 luxury airliner:

(Watch the video below to see inside Mr. Trump’s 757)

The Citation X is the fastest business jet on the market however it only seats 8 passengers. It can also land at shorter runways than the larger Boeing, but the 757 has much more seating.   Assuming Mr. Trump will travel with an entourage of campaign advisers, assistants and workers he will probably be using the 757.

According to Flightaware.com the Boeing private jet owned by Donald Trump departed for Des Moines, Iowa just several hours after his announcement.  He also plans on taking trips to New Hampshire and South Carolina later in the week kicking off his campaigning early.

Trump Flight Tracking

Trump is no stranger to self-promotion, as is evident by the paint job on his 757, so campaigning for President should come as 2nd nature to the real estate tycoon.  If he does succeed in winning the upcoming election, Air Force 1 may be getting a Trump paint job.  So does the Donald have what it takes to win an election in 2016?  Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain, he has the means to create a memorable if not effective campaign.

Donald Trump is Running For President – Which Private Jet Will he Use on the Campaign Trail?

The world of charter jets may have just been changed forever. We keep a close eye on the charter jet industry – and the most recent news from Zunum Aero and JetSuite, Inc will certainly have ramifications in the world of regional charter jet transport.

In late May, Zunum Aero – a pioneering electric aviation company – and JetSuite, Inc., one of the largest private aviation companies, revealed a deal that would provide JetSuite with up to 100 of Zunum Aero’s hybrid-to-electric aircraft, slated for delivery in 2022.

Is Zunum Aero The “Tesla” Of The Private Aerospace Industry?

In many ways, this seems to be the case. Zunum Aero is using existing technology in novel ways, in order to disrupt the age-old industry of private aviation. There has not really been a revolution in the world of aviation for years – only a gradual evolution, as companies focus on more streamlined, economical, and comfortable private aircraft, and novel business models.

But Zunum Aero could change all of that. The Zunum aircraft is designed to seat up to 12 passengers, and uses a unique hybrid-electric model that dramatically drops fuel consumption, allowing for more inexpensive and economical service to regional hubs within 1000 miles of home airports.

In addition, § has said that the carbon footprint of the jet will be 80% lower than comparable chartered jets. Low emissions and noise will also allow the jets to cruise along more than 5,000 underused airports that are typically off-limits to charter craft, due to their proximity to residential areas.

Recently, Zunum Aero also revealed that their jets will have a maximum cruising speed of 340 mph, as well as a very low runway requirement of 2,200 feet for operation – ensuring that the craft can easily take off and land at smaller regional airports.

Ideally, airline companies using Zunum Aero flights will be able to offer both charter jets for regional routes, and may also be able to open up faster, regular service between popular regions of the country that are currently not accessed by air – such as flights from San Francisco to L.A.,

The First Zunum Aero Test Flights Begin In 2019 – Be On The Lookout For The Results

Zunum Aero is continuing to innovate, and is slated to begin test flights and other such tests in 2019. It remains to be seen how the technology will function in a real-world environment, but charter jet companies like JetSuite seem to be highly confident in Zunum Aero’s ability to deliver – and to refresh the aging, $1 trillion market for private and charter aircraft.

So keep an eye out for future developments, and information about Zunum Aero. The “Tesla of Aviation” is sure to make exciting moves in the future, and will continue to revolutionize the world of regional and charter air travel.

It’s that time of year again when the days are getting longer and the first major golf event of 2014, The Masters Tournament, is getting ready to start in Augusta, Georgia.  Adam Scott of Australia took home last year’s green jacket. The last two Americans to win on their home turf were Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson, who both have quite a large fan base which will hopefully draw even more spectators.

Augusta National Golf Club, which hosts The Masters every year, has some of the most powerful and wealthy members in the world.  Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, who happen to be number one and four respectively on the 2014 Forbes billionaires list, are two of the more notable members of the prestigious club.

The tournament starts on Thursday April 10th and continues through Sunday April 13th. The Masters attracts thousands of golf’s most enthusiastic fans every year.  A great number of the spectators are successful business men and women that love the game. Because of Golf’s fan demographic it is a prime target for sponsors who wish to reach the upper echelons of the business world and “high society”.

Many of the players will be traveling to Augusta by private jet. The two closest airports are Augusta Regional (AGS) and Daniel Field (DNL).  Last year’s winner, Adam Scott, owns this 1989 Gulfstream IV and a 2010 Gulfstream G450. According to our friends at Flight Aware, it looks like this aircraft was in Augusta on March 24th before heading to Nassau, Bahamas.  It’s likely he was there to get in some March warm up rounds before heading to the Islands for some pre-tournament relaxation.

While the average professional golfer may not have the means to own such aircraft it doesn’t mean they can’t travel in the same comfort.  Many players and fans will be chartering private jets and aircraft to get to the tournament.  Those who elect to do so have their choice of airport, minimal ATC delays, no security strip searching, etc.

If you are interested in chartering a private jet to this year’s Masters, or would like to learn more please give Jet Partners a call.  As the tournament date approaches aircraft availability will become more and more limited so we encourage our customers to book their flights as early as possible.  Jet Partners’ representatives are on call 24/7, so give us a call and let us help you plan the ultimate golf fan experience.

Golf, Gulfstreams and Green Jackets: The Masters of Golf

As other countries witnessed their general aviation sectors shrink during recent economic turmoil, Nigeria has thrived and continues to generate big plans for the future. South Africa, unsurprisingly, is the business aviation leader in the region, however, there are other contenders moving up close behind in the ranks, including Nigeria. Data shows that Nigeria and Ghana are quickly catching up to South Africa as the second and third strongest markets in the region.

According to the Federal Government, Nigerians are expected to require over 400 private jets between the years 2013 and 2020 – this will add to the mere 80 aircraft currently being used. China was also recently recognized as a country expected to experience growth in their private jet industry at the 2013 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) event. Alongside China, Nigeria is listed as a top country currently investing in private aircraft, again, with big plans for the future.

Averaging about $36.5 million, Nigeria has identified the private jet sector as the most likely emerging driver of “regional connectivity and economic development.” Some of the current private jets in Nigeria include: Bombardier Global Express XRS, Gulfstream 550, Dassault Falcon 900, and Hawker 900XP. The Federal Government recently announced that it would consider the development of low-traffic secondary airports for general aviation.

The problems holding Nigeria back from currently being a top private jet sector includes the lack of an established regulatory environment which has led to many variations of regulations from country to country, poor infrastructure, a lack of maintenance facilities and safety requirements, and a lack of experienced aviation personnel.

Nigeria Expected to Experience Growth in Private Jet Sector

As the airline industry continues to struggle with unruly passengers, incidents have increased up to 5 times in 2021 compared to 2 times pre-pandemic levels in 2022 and 2023, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The rise in disruptive behavior from passengers has caused major headaches for airlines and flight crews, leading to delays, diversions, arrests, and even the potential for safety hazards.

In response to this troubling trend, private aviation has emerged as a viable solution for those who have the means to travel this way. With private jets and charters, passengers can avoid the chaos and unpredictability of commercial flights and enjoy a more personalized and exclusive travel experience. Private aviation also offers the convenience of avoiding crowded terminals, stringent security checks, and the potential for disorderly passengers.

Additionally, private aviation provides flexibility and the ability to customize travel itineraries to suit individual preferences and schedules. With a dedicated crew and luxurious amenities, passengers can enjoy a peaceful and stress-free journey to their destination.

For those who value privacy, safety, and convenience, private aviation offers a compelling alternative and attractive option for a more enjoyable and hassle-free travel experience.

Private Aviation Soars Amidst Rising Airline Passenger Disruptions: A Safer, Stress-Free Travel Solution in 2024

Hurricane Irma, now downgraded to a Category I hurricane, continues to wreak havoc across the East Coast of The United States.

There were very few businesses that this devastating hurricane did not affect, and private jet charter companies such as Jet Partners saw a dramatic upsurge in flight demand as the storm approached.

The Cost of Last-Minute Flights Increased Dramatically As The Storm Approached

Hurricane Irma’s rapid rise and approach gave most South Floridians very little time to plan for evacuation. However, many residents and visitors did not take the storm seriously and did not make travel arrangements beforehand.

Even as late as Wednesday, September 6th, demand for private jets was relatively healthy – and Jet Partners, alongside other air charter companies, had plenty of flights available for average, standard hourly rates.

However, on Thursday, September 7th, evacuation orders were issued in South Florida. It became apparent that Hurricane Irma would be an incredibly powerful Category V hurricane when it made landfall in South Florida – and demand for flights increased dramatically.

Jet Partners, like other companies in the area, had an incredible upsurge in flight requests, which exceeded our total number of available aircraft in the area.

A Shortage Of Aircraft Meant Some People Couldn’t Fly – For Any Price

Many incoming callers believed that, if they had enough money, they could simply book a private jet with any air charter company. But this was not the case – even the wealthiest customers could not just book a flight by paying a lot of money.

For example, we had a CEO who was in Palm Beach and needed a flight to Atlanta. He offered a budget of $40,000 – but Jet Partners, just like many other companies, had already been fully booked. He was forced to drive north with the rest of the evacuees – which could have placed him in significant danger.

Booking A Charter Flight in Advance Provides Peace of Mind (And A Fair Deal)

If you book private jets often, you’ll know that waiting until the last minute can sometimes help you get a better deal. However, we’re here to tell you that this is not the case in a crisis.

Hurricane Irma is a great example of this. Once it was evident how dangerous the storm was, demand surged – and we were unable to serve every incoming client. This illustrates an important point. In case of a serious incoming natural disaster like a hurricane, the best way to secure a fair rate is to book early.

Even if a storm does not look too dangerous, it’s better to be safe than sorry – and making travel arrangements in advance is well worth the peace of mind, knowing that you have a confirmed, reliable method of evacuation, if necessary.

At Jet Partners, we offer fair rates, reliable service, and a service area that covers the entire United States. In a critical situation, we can provide you a cost-efficient, time-saving method of evacuation – and if you book in advance, you’re sure to be able to secure transportation out of the affected area.

Private Jet Charter Sales Spike Due to Hurricane Irma

#CharterKings of Instagram

Instagram is a social media network that is based solely on sharing pictures, many of which are enhanced using built in filters to make shared images even more aesthetically pleasing.  Unlike Facebook and Twitter, where user routinely let their friends and followers know what they eat for breakfast, when they are going to the gym and how angry their daily commute is making them, Instagram exists solely to show interesting, beautiful or really cool images and nothing more.  Perhaps due to the lack of “fluff” and boring comments, Instagram has drawn in and retained some of most interesting users out of any social media network.  Among these, there is a group which we have come to label the #charterkings of Instagram who routinely post pictures of themselves boarding or flying on private jets and chartered aircraft.  While it is somewhat ironic that a “private” service is publicly posted so often, there is no doubt that these pictures draw a lot of attention and simply put; are just flat out cool.

The #Charterkings

Some of the #charterkings of Instagram, as you might expect, were already rich and or famous when they joined the social network.  Others have amassed a following and even become famous because of what they post on Instagram.  One such example is Actor, Astronaut, Pro Poker Player and all around playboy, Dan Bilzerian.  Aside from the stacks of cash, beautiful women, yachts, assault weapons and sports cars we all probably post on our social media accounts, Mr. Bilzerian has posted a number of different private jets on his Instagram feed, which no doubt, makes him one of the #charterkings of Instagram.

Dan Bilzerian Boards Private Jet

One of the more well know #charterkings of Instagram is famous hip-hop producer and husband of Alicia Keys, Swizz Beats.  From pictures of him next to helicopters to shots of his sitting on the steps of a Global Express, Swizz Beats proudly displays his choices of transportation.  Not only do you get to see what he flies on but there are some great shots of his kids flying in style.  He even posts shots of sleeping on chartered jets and what he’s eating for in-flight catering.  His over 680,000 followers just prove that everything is more interesting on a private jet.  Would you rather go to Instagram and SEE what Swizz is eating on his Gulfstream V or head to Facebook and READ about your second cousin’s new vegan recipe for oatmeal cookies?

Floyd Mayweather has never been one to be shy about his good fortune or the fortunes he has made so it should come as no surprise that he is one of the #charterkings of Instagram.  One video shows him and “The Money Team” being served by a flight attendant on a Boeing Business Jet or BBJ.  Anyone who knows about private jets knows the BBJ is one of the nicest private aircraft you can charter.  The private jet pictures may no be the only thing that has attracted his over 2.6 million followers.  Quotes like “Yachts, foreign cars or private jets TMT is making moves” certainly keep fans of the #charterkings coming back.

Floyd Mayweather & TMT Private Jet

Another #charterking that may surprise some is PGA Golfer Dustin Johnson, who also happens to be engaged to Paulina Gretsky.  Aside from showing off his fiancé on his Instagram account, Johnson also likes to show off the aircraft he charters.  He often posts pictures showing the two of them together (alone) on a very nice private jet.  Perhaps combining two of his favorite things?  Whether it’s Paulina, a known internet showoff, rubbing off on him or just the allure of being a #charterking of Instagram, the private jet pictures are becoming more and more common on his account.

Though the latest government shutdown was resolved – at least temporarily – on January 25, 2019, we’re not out of the woods yet. President Trump has made it clear that he’s dedicated to building his border wall, and has implied that he’s willing to shut the government down again if Congress does not reach an agreement by February 15.

One of the areas of the government that was the most affected by the shutdown was air transport. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) staff were furloughed or were working without pay – and so were air traffic controllers.

These factors have made air travel difficult for most flyers – with a notable exception. Charter flyers are not experiencing ill effects due to the government shutdown, and likely will not be affected by any future shutdowns. Let’s discuss a few of the benefits of chartering flights during government shutdowns now.

1. Charter Planes Fly From Smaller, Regional Airports

Unlike traditional, large jetliners, charter planes tend to travel out of smaller, regional airports. This means that there is a lower likelihood of delays and other issues due to long security lines, and that any absences of FAA personnel or air traffic controllers are less likely to lead to serious issues with transportation.

2. The TSA Does Not Screen At Private Facilities

If you’re flying into and out of a private airport, you don’t have to worry about any long TSA lines, because the TSA does not screen passengers at private facilities. While there may be private security personnel on site, the government shutdown won’t affect them – because they are not employed by the TSA.

That means you can expect a predictable wait for security at a private facility, without worrying about TSA absences or other factors affecting the time it takes to be screened – potentially causing you to miss a flight.

3. Private Jet Charter Is More Convenient, Does Not Require Layovers/Connections

Negotiating multiple airports due to layovers or connections can be more difficult during a government shutdown, particularly if you’re exiting and re-entering the airport. If there is a work stoppage or another issue, your flight could be delayed or canceled.

In contrast, private jet charter usually does not require any kind of layover or connection, unless the plane must stop to refuel during a long, cross-country trip. This means that your schedule will be more predictable, and you will avoid any potential issues related to the government shutdown, and its effects on public airports.

Need To Fly During The Government Shutdown? Consider A Private Jet Charter!

The government shutdown is, as noted, currently over – but if things don’t go Trump’s way by February 15, things could get nasty.

If the shutdown is prolonged for too long, FAA air traffic controllers or TSA personnel could quit or go on strike – which could cause major delays and damage to our public air infrastructure.

To avoid these issues, however, those with the means can choose a private jet charter – because the small size and private nature of most regional airports mean charter flights are mostly unaffected, and a good alternative for those with the budget needed to charter a plane.

The Benefits Of Chartering Flights During Government Shutdowns

The Gulfstream G650 is one of the most luxurious private aircraft available on the market today. This business jet can carry 11-18 passengers, and costs around $65 million.

Interested in learning more about the companies and people who own a G650? Read on!

Starbucks – Howard Schultz

Starbucks is one of the most successful companies in America, so it’s no wonder that CEO Howard Schultz has access to a Gulfstream G650. When you run a company with a market capitalization of more than $82 billion, you’ve earned the right to a few luxuries!

Mr. Schultz, in particular, has been instrumental to the growth of the company, and is worth more than $2.9 billion. He was responsible for the founding and growth of Starbucks since the early ‘80s.

While he has recently resigned as the CEO of the company, and now only serves as an executive chairman alongside newly-named CEO Kevin Johnson, he is still essential to Starbucks and their continued operations.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals – Joseph Papa

Valeant Pharmaceuticals has been the subject of some controversy recently. There were allegations that Valeant, as well as hedge fund Pershing Square, run by Bill Ackman, were responsible for insider trading – and over the 2017 winter holidays, Valeant worked out a deal to pay $290 million in restitution to groups of shareholders. Pershing Square Will have to pay more than $190 million for their part of the insider trading settlement.

While the company may still be struggling, they are still lucky enough to hold onto their Gulfstream G650. At least their corporate lawyers will be traveling in style!

Below you can see pictures of Valeant G650 interior courtesy of JetNet

Apple – Laurene Powell Jobs

Laurene Powell Jobs, the wife of the late Steve Jobs, still has a Gulfstream G650. Apple, and Steve Jobs in particular, had a profound influence on our world. From the way we take photos, to how we interact with each other using smartphones and computers, it’s hard to overstate how revolutionary Mr. Jobs was to our modern world.

Though Mr. Jobs departed from us too soon, his private jet still remains with his wife, who can now use it as part of her philanthropic work, which primarily concerns environmentalism and immigration reform, among other social issues.

SpaceX/Tesla – Elon Musk

It should come as no surprise that the gadget-loving Elon Musk, head of both Tesla and SpaceX, has a pricey toy in the G650 Gulfstream private jet. But unfortunately, both SpaceX and Tesla are undergoing some major budget issues.

There are doubts that SpaceX will ever be profitable, and Tesla recently announced a recall of more than 123,000 Model S vehicles due to faulty steering components. So, it’s perhaps ironic that Musk can spare such a large sum for a private jet – while his companies struggle to forge a path into the future. For now, maybe he should consider a smaller plane, chartering his next flight – or even just flying first class!

Chartering A G650 Is Much Cheaper Than Owning It!

While owning a private jet is out of the question for most companies, chartering a G650 is quite a bit cheaper than owning one. In some cases, companies can charter one of these craft for less than $10,000/hour. So if you’re not quite on the level of Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, or the Starbucks CEO, you can still get into a Gulfstream – just don’t expect it to be cheap!

The Gulfstream G650 – And The Companies Who Own Them

What if we told you that there was a fabulous private jet somewhere here on this Earth that contains an acoustically-correct concert hall, a stable to hold horses and camels, a two-Rolls Royce garage, a private steam room and spa, and flat screen televisions in the floor? You’d think we were exaggerating, wouldn’t you? Actually, we’re not. You may wish to return your seat to its upright position and fasten your safety belt before reading about the Airbus A380, which is now the largest and most expensive private jet aircraft in the world.

Airbus A380 Private Jet

According to a March 12, 2014 article in Wonderful Engineering online magazine, a 59-year-old Saudi prince recently acquired the world’s most outrageously expensive private jet. The lucky prince’s name is Al-Waleed bin Talal and he shelled out a reported $300 million for an 800-passenger Airbus A380 that is currently undergoing an additional $200 million or more in custom upgrades.

For the handsome son of Prince Talal and Mona Al Solh, coming up with half a billion bucks to buy his own private Airbus was an effortless task. After all, His Majesty owns the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, the Savoy in London, the Four Seasons and the Plaza hotel in New York City. He also has holdings in Citibank, Twitter and News Corp. Prince Al-Waleed is accustomed to living the very good life and his 21st century version of a magical flying carpet from One Thousand and One Arabian Nights is clear evidence of that fortunate fact.

President and Billionaire Donald Trump has a long history with Aviation and currently owns two private jets. This is not surprising given his net worth, and it is not something he has tried to keep a secret. In fact, if you were ever at the same airport as him you would know it. Much like his real estate, the Boeing 757-200 he owns is adorned with his last name ‘Trump’ in huge letters. He also owns a super mid-size jet Citation X, which is the fastest business jet on the market.

President Trump likely has more experience with private aviation than any other incoming Commander in Chief in history. It’s not that surprising that he has been very involved with Boeing and negotiations over the manufacture of the newest Air Force One. The Donald has voiced his concerns on Twitter about the cost of the aircraft. For security reasons, much of the technology that goes into Air Force One is kept secret and understandably so. Some people may be wondering if this would be the first AF1 with the President’s last name on the paint job? Will it be trimmed and fitted with gold all over the interior as his current Boeing jet is? Keep an eye on the future POTUS’ Twitter account, and you may find out.

While it is normal for the head of a large corporation to use private aircraft, one might say that Donald Trump is a bigger aviation buff than most. Combined with his campaign promises to keep manufacturing in the US can let us safely assume President Trump will be up to bat for the aviation industry. Aircraft manufacturers employ a great deal of people in the country. It will be interesting to see how the industry will benefit from Trump’s presidential term. Tax breaks are always expected when a Republican enters office and this Republican, we can assume, has many friends who own aircraft. Tax incentives for both ownership and manufacturing of aircraft passed on by Mr. Trump will ensure a prosperous future the aviation industry as a whole.

Trump and Aviation

In the last few years, the business aviation industry has seen a number of new technologies emerge. Many of these advancements have resulted in better performing private jets that are more fuel efficient. One of the more popular trends has been the production of Very Light Jets or VLJs. These aircraft typically seat four passengers however many of them offer the same amount of space per passenger as larger aircraft. These light weight private jets help to reduce fuel costs and offer access to airports with shorter runways.

It’s very common for business charter flights to carry only one or two passengers on a trip. Many times it’s only the top executives who make use of private jet charters and they can wind up on a jet with 7 empty seats. Aircraft manufacturers have identified this as an opportunity to produce and offer a product catering to this specific type of consumer. The light jet market is one where customers are often using private jets as a business or time saving tool. For these trips, the aircraft with the lowest charter rate is usually the choice.

Eclipse 500

Eclipse-500

In 2006, Eclipse Aviation became the first aircraft manufacturer to pioneer a Very Light Jet into the business jet market with introduction of the Eclipse 500. This jet sparked a paradigm shift in the business aviation industry and at just the right time. After the economic crisis of 2008, a lot of companies sought out to cut costs and many disbanded their corporate flight departments altogether. Despite the huge amount of negative press companies such as Citigroup received for their use of private jets, charter flights were still a necessity for much of corporate America. VLJ’s presented a way to reduce expenditure yet still take advantage of the many benefits of using business jet.

Citation Mustang

Cessna’s Citation Mustang became the next Very Light Jet to hit the market with the first deliveries shipping out in 2007. The Mustang’s performance and staring price are similar to the Eclipse 500 however many people favor it due to its more spacious cabin. The Citation Mustang also comes equipped with a lavatory which is one thing that the Eclipse 500 has drawn criticism for lacking.

Phenom 100

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer took the design of Very Light Jets one step further with the Phenom 100. Emraer’s version of the VLJ provides all the advantages of the Mustang and Eclipse 500 but is superior in several ways. The Phenom 100 boasts best in class cabin space and baggage compartment. The advancements of this aircraft also benefit the environment with lower Co2 emissions and reduced noise levels. It’s no wonder this jet has become the most popular VLJ on the market today. The Phenom 100 provides the comfort and experience of a larger aircraft while maintaining all the characteristics of other Very Light Jets travelers have come to admire.
